Israel confirma oito mortes em confrontos com o Hezbollah no Líbano
Embates entre o exército de Israel e o Hezbollah provocaram a morte de oito combatentes israelenses. As baixas ocorreram durante a invasão de Israel ao sul do Líbano visando desmantelar a estrutura do Hezbollah na região para proteger o norte de Israel, que vem sendo alvo de ataques do grupo terrorista desde o início da guerra na Faixa de Gaza.
O exército israelense informou que sete soldados morreram em dois ataques separados, sem fornecer detalhes sobre o ocorrido.

Outros sete soldados, incluindo um médico de combate, ficaram feridos. Mais cedo, o exército israelense anunciou que um capitão de 22 anos foi morto no Líbano, sendo a primeira morte de combate israelense desde o início da invasão.
Os anúncios ocorreram na véspera de Rosh Hashaná, o ano-novo judaico e acontecem após o maior ataque do Irã contra Israel desde o início do conflito regional, que provocou promessas de reações severas do governo israelense.
